The international break is over, West Ham have had two weeks to brood on their horrendous start, and Manuel Pellegrini has has ample time to drill the team into his system.
The 2018-19 season must start now for West Ham United. After a nightmare start to the season it’s time for the Hammers to finally tally points this campain.
Everton look ripe for picking and with plenty of time to prepare West Ham should be eating the Toffees for lunch on Sunday.
This is pretty darn close to a must win game for new manager Manuel Pellegrini as we have Chelsea and Manchester United on the schedule after this. With those two difficult games beating Everton becomes that much more important.
A win Sunday would provide a huge boost to a team that has struggled even against sub-par talent. A win would help relieve a bit of pressure and hopefully provide the confidence needed to take down a high flying Chelsea squad or a imploding Jose Mourinho United squad.
With nearly everyone healthy Pellegrini will have a lot to think about when it comes to the squad he brings. Will Carlos Sanchez survive his huge blunder against Wolves? Will Mark Noble return to the squad after a back injury? Will Declan Rice see the field? These are all questions that will be answered come Sunday.
With plenty of time to prepare for Everton I full expect West Ham to come out flying and take it right to Everton. Even had the Toffees been fully healthy I’d expect West Ham to be ready to get a point or three from their trip up north.
Even though it’s really early in the season this feels a must win game. How West Ham would it be though for us to get embarrassed and then go out and beat Chelsea and United?
Lets hope the West Ham United of preseason shows up and we can finally feel the joy of winning!
