In a first month of the season that has turned out to be the complete disaster no one envisioned, there still has to be someone given the title of best West Ham player in August.
Since the list of options is quite short, and how there is only one clear answer for this honor, Javier Chicharito Hernandez is the run away selection.
Owner of the Hammers only two goals in the first three league games, Hernandez has at least shown his new club the usual alacrity synonymous with his successful career. Even if he didn’t get any real service at Old Trafford or St. James’ Park, and even if his brace at St. Mary’s went in vain, Chicharito is all in on being a memorable player for West Ham.
His energy, smarts, and skills are present for all of us to see, offering a ray of sunshine to what has been a swarm of darkness in August. Hopefully next month, he will have many more contenders for the crowd of Hammer Player of the Month.
