West Ham United’s youth academy just got even stronger with the signing of Anouar El Mhassani. The left-footed 16-year-old is certainly an exciting prospect. As stated here, we don’t know a ton about the incoming prospect. What we do know is that “he was at one point one of Ajax’s prized young talents, but due to injury, his contract was not renewed,” so this move makes sense for West Ham. We love injury-prone talent around here.

The lad had this to say on the new contract:
“Of course it’s an amazing feeling. I feel really pleased to be here. It’s a big step for me in my life as well as my football career, but I feel as though I am ready.
“After eight years at Ajax, I feel like I have seen it all and this is a new challenge, so it’s good for me.
“West Ham’s success in the Academy is something that I kept in my mind. West Ham is a good Academy, so it was a good step for me to come here and develop myself.”
Ajax is world-renowned for their academy of football, and while West Ham have always been respected in this regard as well, it’s exciting to see players defecting from other academies to come be part of what’s happening at West Ham. With talent like Toni Martinez, Domingos Quina, Reece Oxford, and many others in the ranks, the future for West Ham is bright.
