The 22-year-old ‘wonderkid’ is still somewhat of an unknown commodity in Europe, however after last years breakout season with Lazio, scoring 16 times and providing 3 assists from the left-wing, his performances have caught the eye of Europe's elite.
DiMarzio suggested last month that the Senegalese winger was set to join Inter Milan, however talks have since stalled and a deal potentially now hangs on whether Manchester United sign winger Ivan Perišić.
The negotiations between the two clubs took place a few weeks prior, West Ham would be willing to offer the former Barcelona youth product €3 million net each year, plus bonuses, five or six times the current amount he’s earning at Lazio. However, any deal now hangs on the player as he must decide between Inter Milan or the Hammers.
The only potential hitch could surround the players agent Roberta Calenda, who has not yet been informed of any potential deal, however money talks and any potential deal where the agent gets paid could swing in West Ham’s favour, with a reported 50% of the deal already ironed out.
Let’s just hope Cheikhou Kouyaté is good friends with Baldé Diao, and can help this potentially extraordinary deal over the line, as it will definitely be a summer coup for West Ham United.
