In what will surprise absolutely nobody a deal for a striker is dead. Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol reports West Ham will no longer be pursuing Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud.

Early reports had Giroud hoping to stay in London leaving the Hammers faithful awash with hope that the French target-man would choose to ply his trade in the London Stadium. Even I was hoping we could get Giroud and his “meaty french forehead” into our squad.

As time went on the deal appeared to be getting farther and farther away and alas the deal appears dead. We will once again move onto different and increasingly disappointing striker targets.
Javier Hernandez is the last big name that realistically could sign for us. Nothing against Andre Gray. I think he’d be a great signing if combined with an Iheanacho, Giroud, or Hernandez but on his own it’s disappointing after being linked with such exciting names.
Who knows though, the Joe Hart deal was dead at one point and now it’s apparently back on. Still it’s disappointing to see yet another exciting striker prospect fall through our hands.
