West Ham United secured a satisfying 1-0 win over London rivals Tottenham Friday evening at the London Stadium, as Manuel Lanzini’s second half winner gave the visitors a damaging blow for their Premier League title hopes.

The Hammers set the tone in the opening 45, with a combination of energized play and solid organization throughout, resulting in the first chance in the game going to Slaven Bilic’s side. But Lanzini couldn’t cap off a fine move set up by captain Mark Noble’s superb through ball in.

Spurs would have their major chance, however, in the first half as Adrian’s bad spill off a Harry Kane shot lead to the England star forward having another chance at goal, only for Adrian to recover and save impressively. The Hammers weren’t rattled though, as they continued their good structured shape and fervor to frustrated the title contenders into the scoreless break.

And West Ham would be rewarded for their determined play in the 65th minute, when great work from Aaron Cresswell led to his cross being uncleared by Spurs and smashed home by Lanzini.

With Premier League safety well assured now, the Hammers will look to play spoiler for a second straight week, when they face off against Top 4 hopeful Liverpool at home on Sunday, May 14.
