It was a quality Saturday for West Ham United players abroad, as centerback Jose Fonte lead the way in defense for Portugal in their comfortable 3-0 victory over Hungary.
Although a guy by the name of Cristiano Ronaldo took the obvious headlines, thanks to his brace performance against the country he also scored two goals against last summer to keep Portugal hopes of an eventual European title alive, that guy plays for Real Madrid.
Instead, our focus is of course on Fonte and his full 90 minute performance in Lisbon. It was a mostly stressless day for the former Southampton player, as the Hungarians did not match the offensive onslaught they put on their opponents in their dramatic 3-3 Euro 2016 Group F finale in Lyon.
Here is the highlights:
Meanwhile Irish youngster Josh Cullen, on-loan at Brentford City for the Hammers, captained his side to a 1-0 victory over Kosovo.
