Bilic: Sakho is out for Brighton, but Chicharito will be fine

After a nearly full squad available to him last week, Slaven Bilic will have another match with an absent list against Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday evening.

In his weekly press conference, the West Ham manager assured all that Javier Hernandez would play against Chris Hughton’s side at the London Stadium following issues with his hamstring.

“He trained and felt a little bit of a tight hamstring, so we scanned it which was important, and the scan was completely clear,” Bilic said. “He missed Wednesday’s light session and we expect him to train today and, based on his feeling, to be OK.”

While Hernandez will thankfully be avaliable, the same can’t be said about Diafra Sakho. After starting the season in perfect fashion and in full health as possible, the in-form Senegalese striker will be out with his latest back injury. Sakho joins James Collins and the suspended Andy Carroll on the list of players who won’t suit up for the Hammers in a rare Friday match.

“We have a couple that are out because of injury,” Bilic added. “James Collins is out for a matter of days and Sakho has back pain. He didn’t train since Burnley so he’s out of Friday’s game. They could both be back for the Spurs game.”

But Adrian will be avaliable as Joe Hart’s understudy, as he has recovered from a stomach illness.
