It what will be a joy to all West Ham United supporters across the globe, manager Slaven Bilic indicated that only James Collins will be unavailable for Saturday’s road trip to well-organized Burnley.
In his weekly press conference before the weekend contest, Bilic expressed his relief that he will finally have all of his attacking options available, with Manuel Lanzini and Michal Antonio improving their conditioning during the international break. The Croatian also assured reporters that Javier Hernandez would be available, despite his late return back from playing with Mexico.
“We are still waiting, Chicharito is coming back today, he wasn’t with us for a couple for Mexico for a couple of weeks, he’s coming back tomorrow for training,” Bilic said. “We’re going to see. But the good thing he played the first game, he scored (vs Trinidad & Tobago), which is always important for the strikers. So he’s going to train tomorrow, but I’m expecting him to be in the squad.”
“Apart for that, on the paper, we will have most of the squad back,” Bilic added. “Okay, some of them only started to train with us on Monday and Tuesday, so they aren’t completely fit. It’s a good situation if we are talking about injuries. But also some players who play the last game, let’s say against Swansea, like Antonio, like Lanzini, we used this international break to work on their stamina, to work on their fitness, and to be fair, we mixed this break with combination of days off to rest them. And to work on their fitness, and we done it very good, and why I’m very optimistic about this game.”
“It’s good, finally to be in the condition, especially in those positions to have your whole team. I’m not saying they are all going to start, it’s impossible to put them all, but this is like first time that basically we have a possibility to put the team that we were thinking about in the preseason. On paper, this is our strongest team. Now, we are probably going to be in a position to have that option.”
