Welcome to what I hope is the first of many morning ‘Cup of Joe Cole’s. Each day you can count on Brace the Hammer to invade your breakfast table and provide you with some West Ham news as well as news from around the globe.

Can we talk about AFCON for a second? This is my first real foray into watching as much of the tournament as I can and only one thought has stuck with me thus far...

They really don’t give a f*&^ about fouling in this tournament. I understand it’s a bit dangerous but in a strange way it’s also totally refreshing. Some West Ham notes from yesterday’s matches. Andre Ayew has passed his father in international goals for Ghana with this gem:

Cheikhou Kouyate is all smiles here with his teammates ahead of his match:

Links!

One of my favorite links this week is the absolute cajones on Cristiano Ronaldo. Right before taking a penalty (successfully), he throws the ball at a Vitolo’s back to troll him. Amazing.

Interesting article on Premier League viewership declining significantly in the UK this year as opposed to previous years.

Conversely, European soccer is skyrocketing in the US as viewership continues to increase.

Good for the ladies of US Soccer for standing up for their rights to equal pay. We’re 100% behind them!
