Toni Martinez is now training with the first team. The 19 year old arrived from Valencia in the summer transfer window, and has been lighting the PL2 ablaze with his goal scoring ability.
Martinez was brought in to be a key aspect for the future, but his nose for goal with the U21’s, helped out by the lack of goal scoring up front has given him an opportunity to impress in training. In just 2 games in December, Martinez bagged himself 4 goals, including a hat trick against Wolves.
If he keeps impressing in the lower leagues, and shows a strong work ethic in training, it’s only a matter of time before we see what the young man can do on the big stage. Hopefully he can bring his strong form into the first team and help bag some goals up front.
And even if he can’t, neither has pretty much anybody else. What’s the harm?
