The Hammers difficult month long fixture list ends at Anfield

West Ham’s United daunting month long fixture list ends Sunday, when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Slaven Bilic’s side requires an instant response from the heavy defeat they received at the hands of Arsenal last week in the London Stadium, their penultimate match in a period in which the Hammers have played at Tottenham and Manchester United twice.

The Hammers will be buoyed by the news of Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell being available after both players overcame their ailments to be passed fit. Cheikhou Kouyate’s groin injury sees him join Sam Byram and Diafra Sakho as out to play against the Reds.

Meanwhile for Liverpool, star playmaker Philippe Coutinho’s ankle injury will still keep him out until the new year, with long term absentee Danny Ings also not in the side. But new signings Sadio Mane and Joel Matip have passed fit for Jurgen Klopp’s team and are in the German manager’s starting lineup.

With Swansea City’s win over Sunderland on Saturday, West Ham will start the match in the relegation zone. They will hope at match’s end to be in a place higher than their current 18th position.

But based on Liverpool blowing a 3-1 lead last week to lose to Bournemouth 4-3, Klopp has indicated that his team “will be very angry again, angry for points.” The intensity in this contest is inevitable.
