Andre Ayew hasn't had the easiest time since joining West Ham in a club record deal for £20.5m. Injured just half an hour into his Hammers debut back on the opening day of the season at Stamford Bridge, the Ghana Captain has only just returned to fitness. His performances for club and country before this however have earned him a spot on the 5-player list for BBC African Footballer of the Year 2016.

A former winner, Ayew gets the nod for the fourth time in his Career. He is a joined on the list by fellow 4-time nominee (and surely favourite) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund and Gabon, debutant Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City and Algeria, 2-time nominee Sadio Mane of Liverpool and Senegal and the 2-time winner and 8-time nominated Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Ivory Coast.

The competition is fierce but it's always good to see West Ham players get the recognition they deserve. Dimitri Payet isn't the only West Ham player who can get nominated for big prizes.

Good luck Andre!
