West Ham United co-Chairman David Sullivan took to the club’s official website to put out a statement regarding the status of Dimitri Payet. Payet, 29, signed a new deal in February which would keep him in East London for the next five years.

A disappointing European campaign and a slow league start for West Ham started translated into rumors surrounding the West Ham star. To make matters worse for Hammer fans, he’s been playing lights out excellent for France, scoring seven goals and 5 assists. While we all want our players to excel on the international level, it only adds fuel to the proverbial media fire.

Sullivan also made sure to note that Payet’s future is with West Ham United.

What does this message say to potential suitors PSG and Olympique Lyonnais? Depends on how well you know David Sullivan. Known to Hammer fans as someone who just likes to speak and make statements, you could not read much into the statement at all. What stands out to me, however, is that he wasn’t asked this question by the media. He wasn’t walking back from the park with his Yorkie. He said this on the official club’s website with no one prompting him for a comment. That tells me he’s sending a message to Payet that they have no desire to sell, regardless of the offers.
